Swami Vivekananda elocution and music contest was organized by Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Allahabad from 5th August to 9th September, 2018 between the students of class 6 to post graduate level. The goal of the said competition is to develop Character and Moral values among the youth generation based on Swami Vivekananda’s Man Making & Character Building Education which will help them to be a good and ideal citizen of our country.
Recitation competition in Sanskrit, Hindi and English was assigned for the students of 6th standard, speech and bhajan competition for 9th and 10th standard where as extempore competition along with speech and bhajan competition was specified for 11th to post graduate standard. The topic of said competition was related to life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda. More than 600 students of 25 different schools and 10 colleges participated in the competition. The august presence of more than 35 judges made this competition into a grand success.
The conclusion ceremony of the aforesaid programme and the commemoration of 125th Chicago lectures on world parliament of religion of Swami Vivekananda were organized on Sunday 11 September,2018 at 3 p.m. at Vijnanananda Satsang Bhawan by Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Allahabad. Prof. K. N. Singh, Vice Chancellor, Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University, Allahabad was honored as Chief Guest and Honorable Justice Ran Vijay Singh, former judge, High Court Allahabad presided over the function. Dr. Chandra Prakash Singh, Coordinator, Arundhati Vashishtha Anusandhan Peeth was the Chief Speaker of the programme.
This programme was started with lighting the lamp before the picture of Holy Trio by the Chief Guest and Vedic chanting by students of Maharshi Bharadwaj Ved-Vedang Shikshan Kendra, Allahabad. Benedictory Speech was given by Swami Akshayanandaji Maharaj, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Mutthiganj, Allahabad followed by the recitation of Swamiji’s famous address at Chicago on 11th September,1897 by two of our students in English and Hindi respectively at sharp 3.30 p.m. This programme was honored by the presentation of winners of Music and Elocution contest after the Chicago address. Apart from these the guest lecture was given by Dr. Chandra Prakash Singh and Prof. K. N. Singh on the historic event of Swami Vivekananda’s speech at Parliament of Religion, Chicago. The charm of the curriculum was the presidential address of Justice Ran Vijay Singh and felicitation with momento of Swami Vivekananda and certificate for the winners of the month long competition. More than 300 students and devotees attended the programme. The programme was concluded with vote of thanks given by Swami Karunananda followed by closing song by Ms. Anjali Kesarwani and Ms. Shivani Malviya. This grand endeavor make a deep impression of faith on Swami Vivekananda in the mind of the participants forever. The program was accomplished with a small refreshment distributed among all participants.
